You can get cremation for about $750 at places like this. They even sell donated cemetery plots.

They sell Bible detectors now at Home Depot, that can be mounted on your front porch and they go off if a Bible comes with 200 feet. Gotta love technology.

What's Is The Goal Of This Religion?
by pale.emperor inwhat's is the goal of this religion?.
i mean, if it's for money they could do a lot more like other religions do: tithing, paying for prayers from the gb, selling "miracles", selling "blessed" items, selling courses.. if its for power then what are they hoping to do with that power?
they dont seem to do anything.

Charles Taze Russell and Rutherford were from the days when successful and highly regarded people steam rolled and barged in anyway possible, over the backs of the multitudes to build little empires for themselves. Their particular empire took on a life of it's own since their deaths and those in charge now are victims of their own cult . They've surrounded themselves with like minded people and listened to their own rhetoric. They've banked heavily on Armageddon coming before they grew old and are now desperately interested in keeping it alive so they'll have somewhere to live once they've reached extreme old age.
There was no reason why Bethel ever needed to be staffed so heavily and there was no reason why the printing of literature ever needed to involve farms, fire trucks, barbers, tailors, apartment buildings, cabinet shops, mechanics, translation centers and all the billions of dollars worth of properties they've owned all these decades. They created their own insular society back in the day when the lowly didn't question those in authority or those who had an appearance of power. The time has come when it's painfully obvious to their followers (who dare to think it), that their donations are being spent lavishly and redundantly.

interesting question
by jayjay78 infirstly i'm a df'd witness.. i was in the org all my life.. vividly remember out witnessing as a kid in the 80s with my mum and having apostates jumping houses before we could get to them ..all the way up the street.. remember it because the guy looked like tom baker from dr who - frizzy hair and long colourful scarf.. i think the people at the doors were made more curious by them actually, so when we knocked ,they were inclined to have a listen.. anyway i'm out and cant see myself ever going back, because my family has fully shunned me..and even if i was to go back and be a member..i don't think i could forgive them...totally scarred me.. anyway my question is :.
if you were head of this religion and you wanted to keep it clean and pure etc..how would you deal with people who delib broke the rules?.
no shunning of course..but whats the alternative?

If I were running the religion, rather than placing myself in and enforcement role,my purpose would be to be of assistance to anyone wishing to develop or maintain a personal relationship with God. I would teach from the platform whatever I though the Bible had to say and let those in the audience apply it in their lives as best they could or as they see fit. If they needed help in reaching their personal or spiritual goals and asked for my assistance, I'd offer it to them.
If there were certain ones who were living lives that were blatantly contrary to what was being taught, they'd be welcome to attend but to avoid any conflict of interest, I simply wouldn't use them in the program being taught from the platform or in any capacity where it seemed as if they were representing the Congregation.
As it is in the rest of life, rather than infantilizing the members of the Congregation with rules, policies and regulation, they would be allowed to use their own "Bible Trained" conscience and personal discretion to decide for themselves who they associate with in the congregation or anywhere else in their life.

The most sick statement put in JW print
by Chook inwt 1973 p568.
"did you know, for example, that mothers and fathers that stroke the genitals of their fretful babies to keep them quiet are unwittingly encouraging them to become maturbators later on?".
what sick fu... writing this article thought the the average person did this to keep kids quiet..

They must be running out of trumped up "issues" to raise.
No topic is off limits in the Watchtower and during the Watchtower study no matter how age inappropriate they may be. I can't imagine what new people or visitors must think when they hear this stuff. Luckily, new ones are a rare occurrence in the Kingdom Hall.

Midweek meeting video
by aboveusonlysky indid anybody see the service meeting video this week?.
australian sister was sexually abused as a child and thought of ending her life at 14 years old, sometime later jw's call on her father who accepts a study and eventually the whole family becomes witnesses, life gets much better as the sister immerses herself in pioneering etc, she still has some dark days but prayer along with going for walks and swimming has helped her cope with bad memories of child abuse, the new system (just around the corner) will completely fix everything......... i'm dumbfounded, the hypocrisy has literally rendered me speechless......comments anybody?.

Besides the obvious irony, the first thing that comes to mind is I wonder if her father was the one abusing her ? If so did he get treatment or did he go on to become a JW and continue abusing ? If so, were his victims part of those included in the numbers we heard about in the Australian hearings?
You'd think they'd steer clear of anything to do with the topic of child abuse.

A Jewish man and Catholic woman were married and they had both a Priest and a Rabbi perform the ceremony.
Although it was obvious to those in attendance that each religious man was trying to out do the other, they were polite about it and things went surprisingly well until everyone gathered outside to see the newlyweds off on their Honeymoon.
As the young couple climbed into their limousine, the Priest sprinkled Holy water over the vehicle. Upon seeing this, and not to be outdone, the Rabbi snipped an inch off of the cars tail pipe.

Circuit ASSembly low-lites
by FedUpJW inso in an effort to relieve some pressure here are what i term the low-lites of yesterday's assembly that i had to endure for the sake of family still in and my progressing fade.
apologies in advance for being pretty long winded.. these may not all be the actual words used, but the ones i use are close, and they pretty well say what was said from the platform.. right off the bat in the opening prayer the praises of the governing body were spoken.
thanking the g.b.

And don't make a habit of watching the news because it is Satan's world so the news will always be bad, and we might hear something that will erode our faith. (pedophiles in the org?)
And we all know, when it comes to guarding our faith, Jehovah's holy spirit is no match against the evening news.
